Kia ora whanau! Damn, it's a good week for music! Let's get into it:

Jenny Mayhem - Pickup Boy

This was another one of those surprises in my inbox and I'm so glad it came in! It's a tune about pickup artists, and it's glorious in the joy it takes in roasting them. It's why this week is coming at you a little late - it released on the 1st, but not NZ time!

Fanau Spa - Leather and Wood

Fuck, honestly, I'm so excited about this. It's Queen Kapussi, Joe Kori, Big Fat Raro, Hamishi, Coco Solid, Manu, TH1R§T3EN, Brown Boy Magik, and Yumgod, and it's so good. Honestly just get in

Vallkyrie - Runaway Child

I've become a huge Vallkyrie fan, everything they do is gorgeous. The video that comes with this is equally as gorgeous, and combined with the lyrics and backing it's quite a nostalgic experience:

The May Project - Solar Flare

Just dropped this week is the May Project's debut album, and it's definitely worth checking out. I'm a huge fan of dreamy electronic pop, and this really hits the mark.

Seth Haapu - New Wave

This is quite exciting to me - I hadn't heard of Seth Haapu, and you might not have either, but you've almost definitely heard his music. He released his self titled debut back in 2011, and since then he's been writing for people like Stan Walker and producing under the name Kēhua. This new solo tune is gorgeous and a fantastic ear worm - the little staccato-ish bridge (this is the best way I can describe it without typing out "dun- dun- dun- dun-") drives me wild in the best way.

Raw Collective - Pictures

This is also really exciting - again I hadn't heard of Raw Collective, but they're a 12-piece live hip hop band from Wellington and goddamn this tune is so good. It's off their debut album which came out in mid May.

Holly Arrowsmith - Every Kingdom

Switching track a little, the new one from Holly Arrowsmith is equally as gorgeous. Fitting beautifully into that NZ folk tradition along the likes of Tiny Ruins & Nadia Reid, Every Kingdom is off her second album, coming out in mid-June.

That's all for this week! If you're Ōtautahi-based, you might be interested to know that FUN, NATURAL FUN is happening again! It's a super fun, queer-friendly DJ night, and I think it's my new favourite thing! Last time was so much fun and I really enjoyed DJing for an actual live, dancing audience, and I'm really excited to do it again! It's Friday 8th June - maybe I'll see you there?

Mā te wā!
